Structured group obedience classes that build reliable obedience, leash skills, recall, and focus around other dogs, people, and real-world distractions. Build a dog who listens everywhere, not just at home.
Basic obedience at home is a start but real reliability comes from practicing around other dogs, people, and distractions. That's exactly what JPK9 Academy's group classes are built for.
| Common Problem | What This Looks Like |
|---|---|
| Won't Listen With Distractions | Follows commands at home but ignores you around other dogs or people.. |
| Pulls on Leash in Public | Walks fine in the backyard, drags you toward every distraction outside. |
| Doesn't Come When Called | Recall works indoors but breaks down anywhere with real temptation. |
| Jumps on People | Greets people by jumping, even after basic training at home. |
| No Reliable Stay | Breaks position the moment something interesting happens nearby. |
| Loses Focus Around Other Dogs | Loses all attention on you the moment another dog appears nearby. |
Group obedience training is a structured dog training class where dogs learn obedience skills while practicing around other dogs, people, and real-world distractions. The goal is not simply to teach commands, it is to make those commands reliable when distractions are present.
Private lessons can teach your dog the foundation in a controlled environment. Group obedience classes then give your dog the opportunity to practice those skills around real distractions, helping build better focus, leash manners, recall, and impulse control.
At JPK9 Academy, owners actively participate throughout every session. This is not a drop-off class. You work alongside your dog, receive coaching from the trainer, and learn how to keep the training going at home. The result is a dog that listens not only at home but around the dogs, people, and distractions you actually encounter in everyday life.
Find your situation below to see whether group training is the right fit for your dog. Each case is evaluated individually before we recommend a program.
Puppies can begin as early as 8 weeks old with age appropriate vaccinations. No need to wait until 6 months. JPK9 Academy's Puppy Kindergarten package includes 4 private sessions plus 5 group lessons, designed for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months.
Reactive or aggressive dogs are not automatically turned away. Each case is evaluated individually. Depending on the severity, JPK9 Academy may recommend starting with private lessons or aggression training before joining a group class.
If your dog has no aggression history and can be managed around other dogs at a reasonable distance, group classes are the right fit. Call to confirm the next available class date and get started.
Ready to Find Out If Your Dog Is a Good Fit?
JPK9 Academy's group obedience classes cover the commands and behaviors that make a dog reliable in everyday situations around other dogs, people, and real-world distractions.
Reliable obedience practiced with duration, distance, and distractions around other dogs.
Coming when called, even when other dogs, people, and distractions are nearby.
Walking calmly around other dogs and people without pulling.
Going to a designated spot and holding position until released.
Learning to wait, respond to guidance, and stay focused despite distractions.
Keeping attention on you while other dogs, people, and distractions are present.
Practicing calm, polite greetings with people and other dogs without jumping.
Applying obedience skills reliably outside the training environment.
Every dog in JPK9 Academy's group obedience classes advances based on demonstrated ability and trainer assessment, not a fixed number of weeks.
Each dog moves forward when the trainer assesses it is ready. Every dog progresses at the right pace for that individual dog.
Each skill is introduced in a structured way. Owners learn the technique alongside their dog and receive specific homework to practice between sessions.
Juan works with each dog owner pair throughout the session, adjusting the approach based on how each individual dog responds.
Commands are practiced with progressively more challenging conditions as the dog demonstrates consistency in the group environment.
Advancement is based on what the dog demonstrates in training, not how many sessions it has completed. A dog that needs more time on the foundation gets more time.
Off-leash training begins when the dog has demonstrated reliable obedience and recall on leash and around distractions. It is not tied to a session number.
